Hexahedral Guide: Solve in the Fewest Moves
Hexahedral is a logic puzzle about pressing 3D blocks flat across a grid. This guide explains how the blocks roll, how the move counter works, and how to plan a clean minimum-move solution.
What Hexahedral is
Hexahedral is a pure logic puzzle. Each level shows a grid with one or more raised blocks, and your goal is to press every block flat — to push them all down — by rolling them across the board. A move tracker counts every roll, and the puzzle is really a question of efficiency: can you flatten all the blocks in the minimum number of moves? A timer runs alongside, so on Feud both your thinking speed and your solution quality feed into the finishing time the leaderboard ranks.
This is the most methodical game in the Feud library. There are no reflexes involved — it is about seeing the solution. That makes it the friendliest game for players who prefer thinking to twitch timing, but the move-efficiency requirement keeps it genuinely challenging.
How the blocks behave
- Blocks roll, they do not slide. A block tips end over end into the next cell, so its orientation changes with every move. A tall block lying down covers two cells; standing up it covers one.
- Position and orientation both matter. The same block in the same cell can be solvable or stuck depending on whether it is standing or lying down.
- The goal is flat. You win when every block has been pressed down across the grid. The fewer rolls it takes, the better your move count.
How a run is scored on Feud
The clock runs while you solve, and your best valid time is saved to the feud's leaderboard. Because you can replay before the feud ends, the winning approach is to work out the minimum-move solution to each level patiently, then run the set again quickly now that you know the exact sequence. A memorized solution turns a slow puzzle into a fast scoring run.
Strategy: plan backward, move efficiently
- Work backward from the goal. Picture the final flattened state and trace the last roll that produces it, then the move before that. Reverse-planning often reveals the shortest path faster than guessing forward.
- Count cells, not just direction. Because a lying block covers two cells, plan around how many cells each roll advances. Misjudging length is the most common reason a block ends up one cell short.
- Mind the orientation you leave behind. Every roll sets up the next one. Aim to finish each move with the block oriented for the move you want to make next.
- Avoid wasted rolls. Since the score rewards few moves, treat every roll as costing you. If a move does not bring a block measurably closer to flat, it is probably a detour.
- Solve one block at a time when possible. On multi-block levels, find an order that lets you finish one block without disturbing the others, then move to the next.
- Restart fresh if you stall. If your move count balloons, it is usually faster to restart the level and execute a clean plan than to salvage a messy board.
Common mistakes
- Rolling without counting cells. Forgetting that a flat block spans two cells leads to overshooting or stopping short.
- Ignoring orientation. Leaving a block standing when you needed it lying down forces extra correction moves.
- Chasing a messy board. A bloated move count rarely recovers — a clean restart with a clear plan is faster and scores better.
Put it into practice
The fastest way to improve is to run the game a few times with these tips in mind. Open an active feud, take some practice attempts, and remember that only your best valid time is kept — so there is no penalty for experimenting.
